Just Before WW II the Younger Generation Held Large, Popular Parties at the Point That
Involved Lots of Beer, Soft Drinks, Swimming, Boating, Sailing and Singing. The event was
accompanied by an old Wutlitzer (Hurdy Gurdy) that has been resurected from "The Sons of Italy".
These Parties Were Annual Events For 6 Years Until the WW II, when most of the male participants went off to war.
These are the cliffs to the south of Long Point. A favorite spot for boaters to anchor for some R & R.
Approaching Long Point from the South.
Looking directly on the point from the West.
A view from the North with the cliffs visible to the South of the point.
Long Point is one of the easiest features on the lake in that it seems to be the place where the lake starts to bend. From East Lake Road, at the foot of the Lake, it seems to block the view so that the other end of the lake cannot be seen. From the far North, Martin's Point is closest, Burtis Point can be seen protruding into the lake, and then the farthest visible on the Eastern Shore is Long Point.
